Join us as we bring festival attendees, industry professionals, and film students together for a chance to enjoy some of the newest student films from across the country! 

Films in this program: Total Running Time: 76 minutes

Motion Picture: A Technical and Creative Innovation – Learn the history of motion pictures in this well researched and very entertaining short documentary. Dylan Goerner / Denver, CO / 13 min.

Breakaway – A coming of age story about an imaginative boy who struggles to build up enough courage to break free from his childhood friend in order to join a group of boys in a pick-up game of soccer across the street. Clifton Archuleta / Community College of Aurora / Denver, CO / 6 min.

Breaking News: The End of Civility – This is a C-SPAN Student Cam third prize winner in the high school division. It was produced by B-TV Senior members from Bloomington High School South in Bloomington, Indiana. The topic is civility between politcal foes on network and cable news. A Complex Villainelle - Before he became the overweight obsessive sadsack of his later years, the Penguin was a poet and a dandy, who threw lavish parties and told complex villanelles  and was an expert at umbrella flight. Looking for love, he is introduced to a lovely nanny, Mary Poppins, who also prefers travel by umbrella. Storybook Ending – A young girl has a crush on the wrong guy. She discovers herself in a tea shop through imagination and books and she finds love between the lines. Chuck Westfield / Colorado Film School / Westminster, CO / 8 min.

Patient – A man and a woman meet at a coffee shop for the first time. As if on an awkward date, they exchange timid pleasantries, however as their conversation unfolds the horrifying truth behind their meeting is revealed. Daniel Clements / York University / Toronto, ON Canada / 15 min.

Dreamscapes – Dreamscapes, a Sci-Fi short is set in the future, where dreams are built and designed, one programmer becomes a fugitive after his latest creation kills the one he loves. Brandon Fryman / University of Colorado Denver / Aurora, CO / 12 min.

The Absence – Absence. Miss-ing. The doing of nothing. Unbidden non-appearance. Forbidden absenteeism. Break between two breaks. This film is about what a teenager does while being absent from class. Filmmakers will be in attendance to participate in a Q & A after the films are shown.
